ABOUT OFFLINE
OFFLINE is about changing how we think about our digital presence, how we use social media, and what it means to us as businesses.
OFFLINE isn’t about quitting social media —most businesses can’t afford to. But neither can they afford to confine their growth strategies to a few major platforms. Today, the costs of online visibility have come to outweigh the benefits.
OFFLINE is about taking back control. A healthy relationship with social media requires an honest assessment of current habits, a plan for how to change things, and the resolve to see that plan through for good. The OFFLINE pledge announces our commitment to these actions. We call for mindful social media practices, guided by healthful boundaries and balanced engagement.
OFFLINE is a pledge and a process. If you’re ready, change is coming.
STEP 1 #SURVEY
We commit to a thorough examination of our social media habits and how external platforms have gained so much control over our businesses and livelihoods.
STEP 2 #PLAN
We commit to creating new goals for sustainable social media habits and establishing the methods and time frames for achieving them.
STEP 3 #EXECUTE
We commit to putting our new plan into action and taking back ownership of our sales and marketing strategies and our well-being.
STEP 4 #DEMONSTRATE
We commit to being an example to help others free themselves from harmful social media habits through verification and adherence to our pledge.

OFFLINE as an organization believes that solving social and environmental injustices is a collective, intertwined effort. Working together, as inclusively as possible, is critical to superseding the white supremacy rampant in our economies, institutions, and organizations, both locally and globally. Challenging ourselves to better understand and correct inequities and values-based misalignments within our modes of operating, both in our work and day-to-day lives—both online and offline—is paramount to all of our success. By embracing diversity and inclusion, social and environmental justice, and principled, sustainable business practices, our work can create stronger cultures. Our relationships can be strengthened. Our workplaces and what we share and sell can become more dynamic and inherently more sustainable.
OFFLINE is seeking to create a deeply diverse advisory board—be that background, industry or expertise—that shares our values. If you have a desire to help advance and expand the project, as well as its collective members, please get in touch.
